About the Role:
The Junior Project Manager – C&I Solar will support the end-to-end execution of MW Commercial & Industrial solar power projects, often spread across multiple locations and rooftops / ground-mounted sites. The role requires strong coordination with internal design, procurement, construction, utility authorities, and client facility teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and as per performance commitments.
With 7–8 years of experience in the solar industry, the candidate will play a key role in multi-site management, interface coordination, risk mitigation, and execution discipline across captive, group captive and third-party solar projects.
What We’re Looking For:
We seek a proactive, technically strong professional who can act as the custodian of quality for the organization’s solar assets. The ideal candidate should combine deep technical understanding of solar components and systems with a practical, on-ground approach to quality assurance and risk management. They should be comfortable working across functions—engineering, procurement, construction, and operations—and confident in dealing with vendors, EPCs, and certification agencies. A strong sense of ownership, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering best-in-class project standards are essential qualities for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Multi-Site Project Planning & Control
· Assist in detailed planning of 30–100 MW portfolio across multiple locations
· Develop site-wise execution plans, schedules and resource plans
· Track progress versus baseline schedule using MS Project/Primavera
· Identify delays and proactively escalate risks
2. Site Execution & Installation Supervision
· Oversee civil, mechanical and electrical activities including:
o Module mounting structure installation (RCC / pile / rooftop / elevated)
o Module & inverter installation (string / central inverters)
o DC/AC cable laying, earthing, LA & lightning protection systems
o Transformer & LT/HT panel installations
o SCADA and monitoring system integration
· Monitor site productivity, workmanship & construction quality
3. C&I Client & Facility Coordination
· Coordinate with factory / plant / building facility heads of the C&I customer
· Plan work as per client shutdown windows and operational constraints
· Manage site access, permits, inductions & safe-work approvals
· Ensure minimum disruption to client operations
4. Utility & Regulatory Coordination
· Support net-metering / open access / captive connectivity process
· Interface with DISCOM, CEIG, electrical inspector & SLDC
· Ensure statutory approvals, energization & synchronization support
· Assist in evacuation & protection scheme compliance
5. Procurement & Logistics Support
· Coordinate with procurement team for timely delivery of:
o Modules, inverters, transformers, cables, structures, SCADA, etc.
· Manage inventory at multiple sites and track material consumption
· Prevent idle materials, pilferage, and site shortages
6. Quality Assurance & HSE Compliance
· Enforce approved QA/QC plans and safety standards at sites
· Conduct toolbox talks and basic safety audits
· Ensure PPE compliance, work-at-height safety and electrical safety
· Maintain QA/QC checklists, test reports and NCR closure
7. Reporting & Documentation
· Prepare and maintain:
o Daily Progress Reports (DPR)
o Weekly / Monthly MIS reports
o Risk registers and mitigation plans
o As-built drawings & handover dossiers
· Support management with real-time execution dashboards
8. Commissioning Support
· Assist in pre-commissioning checks (string testing, insulation tests)
· Coordinate inverter, transformer & protection relay testing
· Support synchronization and trial run
· Assist in handover to O&M team
Technical Expertise Required
· Strong hands-on experience in Solar projects (1–20 MW/site)
· Understanding of:
o Ground-mounted systems, Rooftop & carport
o Open Access & Group Captive models
o 33kV / 132kV/220 kV grid interfacing & net-metering
· Knowledge of:
o SLD, GA, protection schemes, earthing & lightning systems
o String sizing, inverter configurations, Y-connector layouts
o SCADA / Weather station / Performance monitoring tools
· Familiar with:
o CEA guidelines, DISCOMs regulations, CEIG norms
o HSE best practices in industrial premises
Key Tools & Software
· Zoho Projects / MS Project / Primavera for scheduling
· Advanced Excel for progress & BOQ tracking
· AutoCAD (reading & markups)
· SCADA & Plant Monitoring Systems
Qualifications & Experience:
o B.Tech / BE – Electrical / Mechanical / Civil
o 7–8 years in Solar / open access solar projects / rooftop
o Experience managing multiple sites simultaneously
o Preferred: Experience in IPPs / Developers / EPCs serving industrial clients
o PMP / PRINCE2 / PMI-ACP – Preferred
o Proven experience in vendor audits, FAT/PDI inspections, and EPC quality supervision.
o In-depth understanding of PV modules, inverters, transformers, MMS, and balance-of-system components.
o Familiarity with ISO 9001, IEC, IS standards, and MNRE/CEA regulations.
o Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
o Willingness to travel to project and manufacturing sites as required.
