About the Role:

The Quality Control Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment, materials, and EPC workmanship across the IPP’s solar power portfolio meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and compliance. This role will oversee quality control from vendor qualification and procurement to project execution and commissioning, ensuring long-term asset performance and lifecycle reliability.

Skilled in Quality Control, Process Control, Quality Documentation, Project Coordination, and Inspection. Having experience in Quality Management,Manpower Management, Time Management, Resource management is a plus.

What We’re Looking For:

We seek a proactive, technically strong professional who can act as the custodian of quality for the organization’s solar assets. The ideal candidate should combine deep technical understanding of solar components and systems with a practical, on-ground approach to quality assurance and risk management. They should be comfortable working across functions—engineering, procurement, construction, and operations—and confident in dealing with vendors, EPCs, and certification agencies. A strong sense of ownership, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering best-in-class project standards are essential qualities for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Vendor Qualification & Procurement Quality

  • Lead the technical qualification and desktop assessment of all key vendors and EPC partners based on financial stability, manufacturing capability, quality systems, and past performance.
  • Develop and enforce quality assurance protocols and acceptance criteria for critical components including solar PV modules, inverters, AC/DC cables, transformers, and module mounting structures (MMS).
  • Coordinate and oversee Pre-Dispatch Inspections (PDI) and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) at manufacturing facilities for modules, transformers, and MMS.
  • Review and approve supplier QA/QC documentation, including test reports, datasheets, and certifications (IEC, BIS, UL).
  • Maintain a continuously updated approved vendor list (AVL) and quality performance scorecards.

2. EPC Workmanship & Site Quality Oversight

  • Define and implement site-specific Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs) and inspection checklists for EPC partners in alignment with project specifications and industry best practices.
  • Supervise and audit EPC execution quality, covering module installation, cable laying, earthing, structural alignment, and overall workmanship.
  • Conduct quality audits and inspections during project construction and commissioning stages to ensure adherence to IPP’s quality benchmarks.
  • Identify deviations or non-conformities and drive Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) processes with EPC and vendors.
  • Ensure all site-level quality documentation, test records, and inspection reports are complete and archived for project handover.

3. Standards, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with IEC, IS, MNRE, and CEA technical standards across all projects.
  • Liaise with third-party inspection agencies for independent quality assessments as required by lenders, investors, or regulators.
  • Support the engineering team in developing technical specifications, material evaluation sheets, and QA requirements during the design and tender stages.
  • Promote continuous improvement by analyzing recurring issues and implementing preventive measures to enhance asset quality and reliability.

4. Reporting & Quality Governance

  • Develop and maintain a centralized QC dashboard for tracking vendor and EPC quality metrics across projects.
  • Prepare periodic quality performance and audit reports for management and investment committees.
  • Support the Technical and O&M teams in ensuring long-term asset performance through lessons learned and feedback integration from operating sites.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 8–12 years of experience in QA/QC roles within utility-scale solar projects, preferably with an IPP, developer, or large EPC firm.
  • Proven experience in vendor audits, FAT/PDI inspections, and EPC quality supervision.
  • In-depth understanding of PV modules, inverters, transformers, MMS, and balance-of-system components.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, IEC, IS standards, and MNRE/CEA regulations.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel to project and manufacturing sites as required.
